Fed: Nimbin Mardigrass drug festival slammed by local MP

National Party MP IAN CAUSLEY has labelled the annual Nimbin MardiGrass and Cannabis
Law Reform Weekend as totally irresponsible.

MR CAUSLEY says the event, which is now in its 12th year and attracts thousands of
visitors, is a dangerous celebration of drugs.

Queensland Drug and Alcohol Foundation chief executive Bob Aldred has backed the MP's
protest, saying it's irresponsible for the event to flout the law.

The MardiGrass will be held on Saturday and Sunday and will feature events like joint
rolling and bong throwing.

There will also be a protest march and a rally for cannabis law reform.
