NSW: Govt abandons murder prosecution in Gilham case
The New South Wales government has abandoned moves to launch its own murder prosecution
over the GILHAM family murders after receiving legal advice that a conviction is unlikely.
State Attorney-General BOB DEBUS had asked the Crown Advocate to give legal advice
on whether the government should overrule the decision of the Director of Public Prosecutions
over the case.
DPP NICHOLAS COWDERY, QC, decided in July 1999 not to send to trial JEFFREY IAN GILHAM
whose mother, father and brother were stabbed to death in their southern Sydney home …
